QwenCloud continuously upgrades API request parameters, response structures, and behavior to improve protocol compatibility. Updates are listed below by notice update date.

  • Before: the limit varies by model and thinking_budget, covering either the final answer alone or reasoning and the answer combined.
  • After: starting with the next newly launched Qwen model, max_tokens for new Qwen models is equivalent to max_completion_tokens and limits the combined tokens for reasoning and the final answer. The meaning of max_completion_tokens is unchanged. With thinking enabled, reasoning shares the output budget. The behavior of existing models remains unchanged.
